Over time, Phoenicians, Romans, and Arabs influenced the land, with Arabic culture and language becoming dominant across the Maghreb region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>War for Independence and Nation Formation<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In 1954, the <strong>National Liberation Front (FLN)<\/strong> began a significant struggle against French colonial rule. After years of conflict that saw thousands of lives lost, Algeria achieved independence from France in <strong>1962<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Landscape and Population Distribution<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Large parts of Algeria are <strong>desert and rocky terrain<\/strong>, with most of the population living in the northern regions where the climate is more moderate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Language and People<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Algerians primarily speak <strong>Arabic and Berber languages<\/strong>, and the vast majority identify as <strong>Muslims<\/strong>.
