Reading Habit Is the Foundation of a Knowledge Society

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin inaugurated the 49th Chennai Book Fair at the YMCA Grounds, Nandanam, Chennai. Speaking at the event, he highlighted the importance of reading in shaping an informed and progressive society.

Book Fair as a Knowledge Festival

The Chief Minister said the Chennai Book Fair has grown into a major knowledge and cultural festival, featuring over 1,000 stalls and a vast collection of books in Tamil, English, and other languages. He noted that free entry has been provided to ensure wider public participation.

Call to Youth to Develop Reading Habit

Urging students and young readers to cultivate a daily reading habit, CM Stalin said books enhance critical thinking and social awareness. He added that a reading culture is essential for building a future-ready knowledge society.

Recognition for Writers and Tamil Literature

Stalin also referred to the Kalaignar Porkizhi Awards, which honour outstanding writers for their contribution to Tamil literature. He reiterated that promoting Tamil language and literature remains a key priority of the Tamil Nadu government.
